About this policy
Clearvue is a phone diagnostic app for iPhone and Android, made by Reflow Hub Pty Ltd (ABN 58 608 364 307) (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the Clearvue apps and this website send to us and to others, why, and how long it is kept. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
When you tap through to rhex.app to sell your phone, the rhex.app privacy policy applies there.
The short version
- The tests run on your phone, and your test results stay on it unless you share the report.
- When you use the AI lens check, photos from the camera tests are sent to our server and to Anthropic’s Claude AI. We don’t keep them, and Anthropic deletes them within 30 days.
- If you enter your IMEI, it is checked with rhex.app to identify your phone’s model.
- In Australia, your phone’s model and storage are used to look up a trade-in price.
- The apps have no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
What stays on your phone
The tests use your phone’s camera, microphone, speaker, location, motion sensors, biometrics (fingerprint, face unlock or Face ID), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile signal, touch screen and buttons. The readings are used on your phone to decide whether each test passes, and are not sent to us. In particular:
- Location. The GPS test shows your coordinates on screen to prove the GPS works. They are not sent anywhere and are not included in the report.
- Microphone and speaker. Sound levels are measured in memory. Nothing is recorded or sent.
- Biometrics. Your phone’s system checks your fingerprint or face. The app only learns whether the check succeeded.
- Test results and the report. The PDF report is created on your phone. It leaves your phone only if you share it, and only with the app or person you choose. It includes your phone’s make and model, its system version, storage, battery level, the IMEI if you entered one, and the test results.
What leaves your phone
Camera photos, for the AI lens check
In the front and rear camera tests, you can send a photo to check the lens for scratches, haze and cracks. The app asks before sending anything. If you choose not to, you can check the camera yourself and nothing is sent. (Clearvue for iPhone version 2.4 and earlier sent the photo when you tapped Capture, without asking first.)
Each photo you send goes to our server at clearvue.rhex.app, along with which camera took it. Our server sends it to Anthropic’s Claude API for analysis and returns the verdict to the app.
- We don’t store the photo. It is held only while the request is processed.
- Anthropic processes the photo on our behalf under its commercial terms. It does not use it to train its models, and it deletes it within 30 days. It may keep it longer if it is flagged for a breach of Anthropic’s Usage Policy, or if the law requires it.
- What’s in the photo. The photo shows whatever the camera was pointed at, so avoid photographing people or anything private.
Your IMEI
To add your IMEI to the report, you type it in and tap Save. The app sends it to rhex.app, which we also operate, to check that it is valid and identify your phone’s make, model and storage.
- If we haven’t looked up that model before, rhex.app looks the IMEI up with our IMEI data provider, imei.info, which handles it under its own terms.
- We keep only the first 8 digits (the TAC), which identify the model rather than your phone, with the model they matched. We don’t keep your full IMEI.
Trade-in prices (Australia only)
If your phone’s region is set to Australia and your IMEI checks out, the app asks rhex.app for a trade-in price. It sends your phone’s make, model and storage, or rhex.app’s catalogue ID for that model. It doesn’t send your IMEI or test results. If you tap the offer, rhex.app opens in your browser.
Connection details
When the app connects to our servers, our hosting provider (Vercel) receives your IP address and standard connection details, as with any website. rhex.app uses a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address to limit how often requests can be made. Those counters are deleted about an hour later. We don’t use your IP address to work out where you are.
This website
clearvue.rhex.app uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn’t use cookies. For each page view it records the page, the referring site, your approximate location (country, region and city), and your browser, operating system and device type. It tells visits apart with a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, and doesn’t store your IP address. The browser demo runs entirely in your browser and sends no test data to us. Its tests are simulated, so it doesn’t use your camera, microphone, location or sensors.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. The information above goes only to:
- Anthropic, which analyses camera photos for us.
- imei.info, our IMEI data provider.
- Vercel and Google Cloud (Firebase), which host our servers, database and website analytics.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where the law requires it.
These providers may process information outside Australia, including in the United States.
Security
All information the apps send is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Nothing they send is linked to an account, a name or an email address.
How long we keep it
| Information | Kept |
|---|---|
| Camera photos | Not kept by us. Deleted by Anthropic within 30 days (longer only if flagged or required by law). |
| IMEI | Not kept by us. We keep the first 8 digits, which identify the model, and the matched model. |
| Make, model and storage for trade-in prices | Not kept |
| Hashed IP address for rate limits | About an hour |
Children
Clearvue is meant for adults buying or selling a phone. It isn’t directed at children.
Your choices and rights
- You can decline the AI lens check, and still check the camera yourself.
- You don’t have to enter your IMEI. The tests and results work without it, but the report can’t be shared until it has one.
- You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing team@reflowhub.com. We will respond within 30 days. Because the apps have no accounts and we don’t keep photos or full IMEIs, we will usually hold nothing that identifies you.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the apps collect or how it’s used, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
